Girls Varsity Soccer paved North Rockland on Saturday to cement the away game win 1-0.

“Rye played a very physical game against a gritty North Rockland team,” said Girls Varsity Soccer Coach Rich Savage. “With Journal News predicting Rye to lose the game, it provided extra motivation for Rye who was competing in their fourth game of the week.”

It was an up and back game with Rye’s back line on pressure with many long balls from North Rockland. Alence Zion was moved to the back in order to fill in for some players who were unable to play in the match. Both Alence and Despina were solid for Rye’s back line.
With 18 minutes left in the game, Rye’s Reilly Traynor found the back of the net off a nice pass from Paige Vanneck. Artistea was solid in the outside of the midfield to close out the game.

Rye will host Sleepy Hollow for their senior game, the last match of the season. Kick off is 12:00pm Sunday Rye High School turf stadium. You can watch the game streaming live.
