Girls Varsity Swimming Outfoxed
Rye Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving was outfoxed on Friday by Foxlane, 93-87.
“Senior Maya Egan had a great meet,” said Rye Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving Coach Kelly Johanson. “She won the 100 fly and was 3rd in the 100 back. Maya also led of the 200 free relay which placed 2nd.”
This was the team’s closest meet of the season so far. A lot of very close races, and most of the girls showed their best times of the season. Other highlights:
- Senior Lente Geelen won both of her events. She was 1st in the 50 free and 100 back.
- Freshman Sophia Lord won the 200 IM and was 2nd in the 100 breast.
- The team placed 1st (Senior Jolie Pineault) and 2nd (8th grader Mia Howson) in diving.
- The team won the 200 Medley relay (Geelen, Lord, Lien, Hofmann) and won the 400 free relay (Goldberg, Lombardo, Lord, Geelen)
Team team’s record is now 2-3. The next meet is Thursday, 4:30pm at Edgemont.
