Girls Varsity Tennis Bitten by Huskies
Rye Girls Varsity Tennis was bitten by the Huskies on Wednesday at the away match, falling 2-4.
“The whole team played to win and came up just short in their Section Team Semifinal match against Harrison at Harrison’s home courts under the lights deep into the night,” said Rye Girls Varsity Tennis Coach Anthony Campbell.
“The team continued to grow as doubles players all year and were just edged in four third set super-tiebreakers that decided the match. Abby Davies and Cate Hartman had a stellar straight set doubles win, as well as Cassidy Pagen at third singles. The team was undeterred by injuries, illness, weather, and scheduling oddities to battle a strong Harrison team to the final point.”
In the Section tournament the team started their run with a 6-1 victory over White Plains and a 5-2 win against Suffern before dropping the semifinal contest. They finished a great season as League Champions and with a Section Doubles Championship pair of senior captains Juliette Stone and Charlotte Ausfahl.
