In the wake of the tragic loss of RHS senior Morgan Kaplan, the Rye Youth Council is reminding the community of its local resources available to help the community process grief.

Last spring the Council hired Linda Tillmon, LCSW (licensed clinical social worker), with the intent to create a clinical internship program.  Tillmon, acting as a social work supervisor, now oversees a team of clinical interns who are completing their masters’ degrees in social work and mental health counseling.

Through this program, the Council is offering short-term (3-6 months) individual ad group counseling for kids ages 10-22, and will also connect families to other appropriate care. The Council can host group therapy for kids who want or need to process issues/grief/challenges together. Supervisor Tillmon sits on the Westchester County Suicide Prevention Task Force and is a certified trained instructor in the evidence-based course Suicide Safety for Teachers.
The Council also published these newsletters with additional resources: Helping Your Child Cope With Tragic Loss (networkforgood.com) and Rye Youth Council is Here to Help (networkforgood.com).
