Boys Varsity Swimming Put in the Deep End by Mamaroneck

Rye Boys Varsity Swimming & Diving was put in the deep end by Mamaroneck on Monday, dropping the overall match 66.5 to 99.5. Even so, the team saw individual standout performances.

“Freshman Ethan Zhou had some great swims, winning the 50 free and 500 free,” said Rye Boys Varsity Swimming & Diving Coach Kelly Johanson. “He did his lifetime best time in the 500 free.”

Other highlights:

  • 8th grader Finlay Sutherland placed 2nd in diving and qualified for Sectionals
  • Sophomore Bryan Laverty placed 3rd in the 200 free and won the 100 fly
  • Sophomore Tripp Redd placed 2nd in the 100 free and 3rd in the 50 free

The season dropped to 0-4. The next scheduled meet is Friday, January 7th at 4:30pm vs. Peekskill.
