Boys Varsity Swimming Splashed by Arlington

Rye Athletics GARNET file photoRye Boys Varsity Swimming & Diving was splashed by Arlington Wednesday evening in their opening meet. Despite falling short 76-100 overall, the team enjoyed some top performances.

“Freshman Ethan Zhou won both the 200 Free and 100 Fly,” said Rye Boys Varsity Swimming & Diving Kelly Johanson. “He qualified for Sectionals in both events. Ethan just missed qualifying for States in the 200 Free by a tenth of a second, next time he swims it he should get the time.”

Other meet highlights:

  • Freshman Michael Ladyzhensky tied for first in the 100 back.
  • 8th grader Finlay Sutherland won diving.
  • Sophomore Bryan Laverty placed 2nd in the 50 free. Sophomore Tripp Redd placed 2nd in the 100 Free.

The team competes versus Tappan Zee on Friday at 4:30pm.
