New Assistant City Manager for Rye
A new assistant city manager will join the City of Rye in early February. Brian Shea joins from the City of Albany where he currently serves as the chief of city operations. Prior to that role, Shea was the chief of staff to the mayor of Albany. In that role, he served as chief spokesperson for the mayor and public information officer for the City of Albany.
“Brian brings with him significant experience that will be invaluable as we advance the City’s current operations and longer term plans,” said City Manager Greg Usry in a memo to city staff.
Earlier in his career, he served as the Upstate Director of Intergovernmental Affairs for the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services. Brian received his undergraduate degree from Binghamton University and his Masters of Public Administration from Marist College. He will be relocating to Westchester County from Albany in the next several weeks.
The assistant city manager position has been vacant since Eleanor Militana left in 2018.
Would be worth noting that the assistant city manager position was cut to save money. Wonder where the funds have been found to re-staff the position.
