MyRye.com is featuring varsity team MVPs from the winter 2021-22 sports season. The MVPs have been selected by each coach. A big MyRye.com congratulations to all the MVPs.

Rye Girls Varsity Squash MVP is senior Lente Smits.

“Lente is the embodiment of hard work, dedication and the spirit of our squash program,” said Rye Girls Varsity Squash Coach Tony Campbell.

“She took up squash as a 9th grader, dedicated herself to the sport both during and out of the school season, and raised her game enough to make the Rye 1 lineup in 11th and 12th grade. Playing her absolute best squash and having her season culminate in a perfect 4-0 individual record at the Nationals tournament at UPenn was a fitting and thrilling end. Not only was Lente co-captain of the Varsity 1 team but she would often travel to the JV team’s matches to support her peers in our expansive squash program. This winter she was 11-1 in interscholastic play.”
