In Memory: Jacquelin Trask Duffek, Age 90
Shelburne, VT – Jacquelin Trask Duffek, Jacky to her friends, died peacefully on Thursday April 7, 2022 at her home in Wake Robin Retirement Community, Shelburne Vermont. She was 90 years old. Jacky was born on December 15, 1931, in New York City. Her parents were Frederick Kingsbury Trask and Margaret Pope Trask, and her siblings are Jane Rosen of Oakland, CA, Frannie Wozencraft of Seattle, WA, and Fritz Trask of Denver, CO.
Jacky was married to Alfons Anthony Duffek, who most people knew as Tony, in 1958. Jacky and Tony first lived in Rye, New York, moving to Connecticut in 1961 where they raised four children. Jacky became a children’s librarian, and founded the Jack and Jill Nursery School. Nothing gave her more happiness than being with her family.
Once Jacky and Tony retired to Cape Cod in the early 1980s, Jacky had time to return to her love of art. In college she had studied drawing and sculpture; further study with Cape artists expanded her art into a professional painting career. Her artwork became in demand by both residents and corporate buyers.
Jacky was a community organizer throughout her life. She loved to read and share her thoughts and opinions with others. She was also very committed to “paying it forward”. She was interested in all aspects of life and enthusiastically talked with others about them.
Jacky moved to Wake Robin in 2002, four years after her husband died. She and other Wake Robin residents formed an active art group. Jacky hosted art parties at her summer house in Underhill, a property she loved and that has been in the family for generations. Jacky loved all animals, especially horses and dogs, and had many dogs as pets throughout her life. She was especially fond of yellow labs, and was deeply devoted to her last three dogs, Dune, Mandy and Andie.
Jacky is survived by her four children: Lisa Camacho and her husband Bob Camacho of Cambridge, MA, Mickey Duffek and his wife Terri LaPenta-Duffek of Newington, CT, Stephen Duffek and his wife Lisa Duffek of Catskill NY, and Nick Duffek and his partner Beth Gale of Northborough, MA, and by her two grandchildren Madeleine and Genevieve. A graveside service will be held August 20 at 11:00 am, at the Underhill Cemetery in Underhill Vermont.
