The Rye Boys Varsity Tennis team was bitten by the Mamaroneck Tigers Monday in the second round of team sectionals. Mamaroneck High School, the third seed for the tournament, came out on top 5-1, ending the season for the Garnets.

“With the number one singles player out sick, Rye used an alternative lineup,” said Rye Boys Varsity Tennis Coach Sue Dickson. “Although all matches were hard fought, Rye came up short, winning only second doubles. Of Rye’s losses during the season, three were at the hands of the league champions Mamaroneck. With a “can-do” approach, our guys fought well and competed with their opponents but came up short yesterday.”

In a match highlight, Cian Keegan and Jiawin Hao came up big in the second set and won the super tiebreaker in a decisive manner.
