Rye PD Arrest After Foot Pursuit & Taser Near Downtown

Rye PD arrested a suspect on Sunday with an active warrant. The arrest took place after a foot pursuit and the use of a Taser in the downtown area.

Marquise Roberson, 33, of Peekskill was charged with criminal trespassing, criminal contempt, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.

Last Tuesday, May 10th Rye PD officers were dispatched to a report of domestic incident. The victim stated she and her husband – Roberson – were involved in a verbal argument. During the argument, Roberson ripped her cellphone from her hand smashing it onto the sidewalk. An arrest warrant for Roberson was then issued for criminal mischief and for violating an active order of protection.

On Sunday, Rye PD was dispatched to the victim’s residence. The victim’s grandmother had called the police stating that Roberson was banging on her front door. Upon arrival Roberson led police on a foot pursuit through several streets near Rye’s downtown in the area of the Rye Brook Post Road Service (the Gulf Station across from the Graham Funeral Home).

During the foot pursuit, Roberson entered an apartment not known to him in an attempt to elude Police. When the resident confronted him, Roberson jumped out the open rear bedroom window. That foot chase continued and due to public safety concerns, a Taser was used on Roberson allowing officers to arrest him without further incident.

During his flight Roberson sustained several minor injuries. He was treated for his injuries and then taken to the Westchester County Correctional Facility on $25,000 cash bail.

Roberson was arraigned by Rye Judge Valerie Livingston late Sunday evening and his first court date is expected on Tuesday.
