Girls Varsity Tennis Causes Pain to Suffern
Rye Girls Varsity Tennis caused pain to Suffern on Thursday, sunsetting the opponent 4-3.
“With the team down 3-2 in matches the second doubles pairing of sisters Taylor and Brooke Gori fought off 3 match points in the Super Tiebreaker to win it 14-12 to even the team match score at 3-3,” said Rye Girls Varsity Tennis Coach Tony Campbell. “Then the 8th grade pairing of Paloma Pepper and Harper Van Maanen hurried to finish the match before dark 6-1,6-3 to seal the team win.”
To get four points Rye swept the doubles with convincing wins in straight set wins by Cassidy Pagen and Charlotte Lorraine 6-1,6-3 and Sophia Karl and Hannah Cali 6-1,6-4.
The season is now 5-3-1. Varsity plays at New Rochelle on Friday at 4:30pm.
