Girls Varsity Tennis Sends Mamaroneck Down the Post Road
Girls Varsity Tennis sent Mamaroneck down the Post Road Thursday, taking the team’s first season match 4-3 at home and starting the Rye Athletics’ fall season.
“An unlikely doubles pairing of senior captain Ryan Wade and Rye Middle schooler Ella Poole gutted out a first set tiebreaker win 7-6 (8-6), then 6-3 to break a 3-3 team match score and clinch the victory,” said Rye Girls Varsity Tennis Coach Anthony Campbell. “Such an exciting way to start the season.”
Sisters Brooke and Taylor Gori played their first varsity match at second doubles and won convincingly in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. All seven matches were hard fought and gracefully played by both teams.
Varsity plays at Mamaroneck again on Tuesday at 4:30pm.
