Rye Boys Varsity Football Claws the RedHawks of Nyack
Rye Boys Varsity Football clawed the RedHawks of Nyack on Friday evening under the lights at Nugent Stadium. The Garnets polished the birds from across the Hudson in a decisive 36-0 victory in their first home game of the season.
Nyack struggled throughout the game. The Garnets led 7-0 at the end of the first quarter and 36-0 at the end of the first half. The starters were rested in the second half and other players were out on the field.
“Our first home game was a complete team effort,” said Rye Boys Varsity Football Coach Dino Garr. “The first half was outstanding by both the Offense and Defense.”
“The coaching staff was especially pleased with the offensive line play of Owen Welburn, Charlie Saurack Ronan O’Byrne and Jason Gonzalez, led by Captains Luke Iuliano, Owen Meyers and Chris Guazzo,” continued Garr. “We were also very pleased with the running attack led by Tommy Richardson and Charlie Garnett. There were lots of contributions by all team members in our 36-0 victory.”

“The Rye cheerleaders kicked off their home opener with an incredible half time performance,” said Rye Girls Varsity Cheerleading Coach Melissa Stone. “The team has been working non-stop to prepare for this game and show the fans what Rye Competitive Cheerleading is all about. We thank everyone who showed up to support us tonight! Tonight was also the senior night celebration for both football and cheer. We would like to honor our four seniors Natalie Jackson, Chiara Malta, Alessia Pedrazzoli and Eva Pedrazzoli. We love you and will miss you next year:).”
