Boys Varsity Soccer Goes Bonkers on Yonkers
Rye Boys Varsity Soccer went bonkers on Yonkers Saturday, winning at Nugent Stadium 7-1.
“We received a lot of strong performances from a variety of players, and it was great to see the guys step up and be ready to perform after an emotional win the night before,” said Rye Boys Varsity Soccer Coach Jared Small. “Picking up two wins in less than 24 hours made for an excellent weekend as we begin preparing for the final stretch of the regular season.”
Lex Cox tallied two goals, Tommy Broderick scored his 15th of the season, and Tilman Oberbannscheidt, Tyler Triolo, and Joseph Chai scored their first career goals. Kieran Traynor also added his second goal of the season. Arun Jaswal put in a strong shift in the midfield, helping dictate the style of play for the Garnets. Sjef Smits anchored the backline with his consistent play at center back, and Chase Pepper played 68 strong minutes at outside back and wingback.
The season improved to 9-3. Watch the replay. The Garnets host Eastchester Wednesday at 6:30pm.
