Girls Varsity Soccer Bites the Huskies with Snake Eyes
Rye Girls Varsity Soccer bit the Harrison Huskies with snake eyes on Friday, winning 2-1 at home. Rye advances to the quarter final of the Section 1 tournament.
“Rye’s Mary Sack had a huge impact on her return from a hamstring injury for the opening round of the Section 1 tournament,” said Rye Girls Varsity Soccer Coach Rich Savage. “Mary worked extremely hard on the outside of the field and scored two goals on the outside of the field.”
On her first goal, Isabel Harvey distributed a perfect pass and Sack broke through and finished with a goal on the outside beating the keeper near post. Sage Ruttenberg delivered the perfect cross from the outside back to assist Sack in her second goal.
Both Despini Sfiris and Della Goodman had a strong defensive game for Rye. Karenna Chader had 5 saves on the win for Rye.
The season record is now 14-2-1. Watch the replay. Rye will host Pearl River Monday night 6:30pm at Rye High School turf field.
