In Memory: William F. J. Fegan
“Kindness is the only service that will stand the storm of life and not wash out.”
– Abraham Lincoln
It is with a profound sense of sadness we report the sudden passing of William Fegan while on vacation with his wife of 41 years, Maeve, and two sons, Bill and Brian.
William arrived in New York from his native Ireland in 1980 to study architecture and upon graduation he and Maeve made the area their home, living in Manhattan until 1993 when the family moved to Rye. In 1999 William co-founded Tribeach Holdings, a real estate development company that has completed several landmark high-rise projects in Manhattan including two Times Square area hotels for the Riu group. Apart from site design expertise, William was a recognized authority in New York City zoning regulations which proved to be of immense value to Tribeach and its clients. William was also instrumental in Tribeach developments in Poland and Romania with one of his designs awarded best building in Poland.
William was a passionate sailor and started his racing career aboard “Wild Goose”. He completed the Fastnet, Middle Sea, Halifax, Bermuda, and Around Ireland offshore races and in 2019 completed the Transatlantic ARC race. William also loved competing in his own K6 “Risky Business” in many regattas on Long Island Sound with the American Yacht Club.
Whether on the water or enjoying time and a cocktail with family and friends he could always be counted on for a kind word and friendly greeting. William’s warm smile, zest for life, unfailing kindness and constant good cheer will be deeply missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing him.
William is survived by his wife Maeve, his sons Bill and Brian, his sisters Susan, Corrie, Sally, Jennifer, and Gina, as well as his many brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his family and his many friends across the world.
The family will be holding services for William Fegan on Sunday, January 15th and Monday, January 16th.
