Rye PD Arrests Driver for Fleeing an Officer
Next time you see a police vehicle put on its emergency lights, it is a good time to pull over. On Tuesday, Rye PD arrested Reinaldo L Gomez, age 46, of Shelton, Connecticut for unlawfully fleeing a police officer.
Rye police officers had observed a 2019 black Ford Fusion traveling northbound on Theodore Fremd Ave in the area of Hammond Road, passing vehicles on the left. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, however upon activating the emergency lights the vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed.
The pursuit continued onto I-95 northbound where the vehicle continued at a high rate of speed until traffic slowed the vehicle down and the pursuit came to an end. Gomez was arrested and transported to Rye Police Headquarters for processing.
He was released on an appearance ticket for unlawfully fleeing a police officer, reckless driving, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. It is returnable to the City of Rye Court on March 7, 2023. Rye PD reminds you that booking charges are merely accusations and the defendant(s) are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
