Varsity Skiing Delivers a One-Two Punch @ Thunder Ridge
Rye Boys and Girls Varsity Skiing delivered a one-two punch at Thunder Ridge on Thursday evening. The Boys finished first overall and the Girls finished second overall.
“It was a great night for the Rye Garnets Varsity ski team at Thunder Ridge against 5 other schools tonight- Mamaroneck, Pawling, Mahopac, Blind Brook and Carmel,” said Rye Varsity Skiing Coach David Gray.
The Girls picked up 2nd overall on the night with 3 girls finishing in the top 15 and 6 in the top 20. The Boys team finished first overall with two boys on the podium. Justin Gray finished first and Lukas Steinmann finished third. A total 5 boys finished in the top 10 and 7 in the top 15.
Next up is a big Division B race at Thunder Ridge Monday night where Rye will face rival Horace Greeley and 7 other teams. Next Thursday is the second Section I Qualifier at Mohawk Mountain where racers try to qualify for the Sectionals at Hunter Mountain on 2/14.
After the past few races, Rye Ski Team has proven themselves to be one of the top teams in Section I.
