On Tuesday, Rye PD arrested Jose Nieves, 28, of Brentwood, New York on a warrant for robbery in the Third Degree, a class “D” felony.

On Saturday, February 11, 2023, at approximately 4:45 am, Rye PD responded to the Courtyard Marriott in Rye (631 Midland Avenue, on the Port Chester line) on a report of a robbery. The front desk agent at the Courtyard stated a male had come in around 4:40 am demanding the money from the register.

After speaking with the front desk agent, investigators reported she stated Nieves had his hand in his pocket causing her to believe he had a gun. Nieves fled the scene after stealing approximately $250 dollars. After a three week investigation, Nieves was identified and an arrest warrant was filed.

Nieves was transported from Putnam County Correctional Facility to Rye Police Headquarters for processing. He was arraigned at the Rye City Court and transported back to Putnam County Correctional Facility, where he is being held on unrelated charges.

Rye PD reminds you that booking charges are merely accusations and the defendant(s) are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
