Rye Boys Varsity Tennis hunted Fox Lane on Friday, winning the away match 6-1.

“The Rye Varsity 1 team had a slow start to the match vs. Fox Lane and then came on strong at the end,” said Rye Boys Varsity Tennis Coach Sue Dickson. “All three doubles teams won and, Matthew Templeman playing second singles had a good win along with Alex Gordon at third singles. The highlight match would have to be that of eighth grade player Lou Kim-Reuter at fourth singles. He lost the first set, fought back to win the second 7-5 and took it to a third set super tiebreaker. The breaker was close but Lou pushed through his nerves and won 10-8. As the rain came down, Rye continued to play to their strengths across the board.”

The team enjoyed its first coach bus of the year and, according to reports, felt like royalty. The team is now 6 – 1 for the season. The Garnets host Pelham on Tuesday at 4:15pm.
