Rye Boys Varsity Tennis delivered a lot of love to New Rochelle on Wednesday, winning the home match 6 – 1. The Garnets are at the top of their league with an 8 – 1 record.

“Rye had its rematch with New Rochelle (a rained out match from last week) and came out victorious with a 6-1 win,” said Rye Boys Varsity Tennis Coach Sue Dickson. “With first singles player Nicolas Echlov out with an injury, Matthew Templeman rose to the occasion to take on the very strong Alex Suhaniski. New Rochelle came out victorious with the number one position but struggled with the rest of the Rye line up. There was strong singles play from Alex Gordon, Lou Kim-Reuter, and Ty Bibas who helped to solidify the win along with outstanding play from Henry Paul and Henry Bagley at first doubles, senior Cian Keegan and eighth grader Filip Glitterstam at second, and junior duo at third, Jiawen Hao and Gunnar Wey. Second and third doubles both won 6-0, 6-0 not allowing any games for the NR team. These players will tap their endurance now, especially while preparing for AP exams!”

Rye will host Eastchester Thursday at 4:15pm. The team has four matches in a row next week to close out the regular season, prior to the Sectional Tournament on the 13th and a Junior Prom on the 12th.
