Girls Varsity Softball Sinks Westlake to Win Tourney
Rye Girls Varsity Softball sunk Westlake 14 – 1 on Saturday to win the Westlake “Have a Heart” Tournament.
“In the Championship Game of the Westlake “Have a Heart” Tournament, we beat Westlake 14 to 1 to claim the championship,” said Rye Girls Varsity Softball Coach Alex Tejera. “It was another great team effort and an all around great day of softball. Penelope Gilmore (All Tournament Selection), pitched a CG allowing 6 hits and only 1run, while striking out 11 to earn the win. She was also 5 for 6 at the plates, with a 3B 3R and 2Rbi. She has helped out by Dylan Deertz (4 for 5), Ashley Kessner (2 for 5), and Millie Brooks (2 for 4).”
