8th Annual Dog Days of Summer at The Osborn
On Wednesday, June 21st, The Osborn senior living community in Rye welcomed all residents and guest dogs to participate in its 8th annual Dog Days of Summer event.
With the help of their owners, the four-legged contestants paraded around the South Lawn and played musical chairs to start off the show.
The dogs then competed for a prize by going through a challenging obstacle course.
Ettie Shapiro spoke for the Good Dog Foundation, as her dog, Mazie, a certified therapy dog for the organization, stood by her side. Both Ettie and Mazie have visited hospitals for years. They currently volunteer at the New York-Presbyterian Allen Hospital.
Osborn residents and guests also participated in dog-related activities. One of which was guessing how many treats were in a jar for a prize (correct answer: 150).
At the end of the show, the emcee, Deborah Garvin, and Susie McNamee gifted the dogs many prizes provided by Pet Pantry Warehouse. Giveaways ranged from necklaces to bows to “all you need is love and a dog” signs.
