RHS Inducts 138 Students Into National Honor Society
The Rye High School chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) inducted 138 new members at a candle-lighting ceremony at the High School Performing Arts Center on June 12. The RHS National Honor Society requires students to have a cumulative average of 90 and perform a minimum of 60 volunteer hours to be eligible for membership.
The Rye High School faculty nominated students who they believe embody the NHS ideals to light the candles: Niklas Hofmann for scholarship, Jilian Brensilver for leadership, Sofie Fu for service, and Piper Tenney for character. The students lit candles to represent each of these qualities, and all joined in repeating the pledge of induction.

I am sure that all these students have worked very hard at Rye High School this past school year – in order to achieve this honour. It is a terrific tribute to each of them, as they prepare to graduate and move on to a entirely new part of their young lives. As well as their school work this year, many of the students have participated in extra-curricular activities as well. Congratulations to each one of them. I am especially delighted and proud as my granddaughter Isabel Geri Godden has achieved this honour this year at Rye High School. She has had a very good year both academically and also with her extra-curricular activities.
Bravo Izzy!!
