Rye PD is inviting the community to its first ever “night out” on Tuesday, August 1st from 5:30pm – 7:30pm at Rye Recreation (281 Midland Avenue).

“It’s really coffee with a cop but a larger venue,” City of Rye Public Safety Commissioner Mike Kopy told MyRye.com. “It’s an opportunity for the community to meet with officers and spend an hour, two hours mingling with friends and neighbors.”

In its 40th year, National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign on the first Tuesday of August that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.

Kopy expects 5 – 10 officers at the event Tuesday. The department is getting event support from the Rye PBA and the Police Advisory Committee. There will be food, an ice cream truck, games and music.
