Rye FD Union Drops $26K to Local Non-Profits
The Rye Professional Firefighters Local 2029 has donated $26,000 to five local non-profits. Friends of Rye Nature Center received $5,000, Friends of Rye Town Park received $5,000, Friends of Rye Recreation received $5,000 and Soul Ryeders received $1,000. All are new recipients of funds from Local 2029. Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital will formally accept its donation of $10,000 on Tuesday. The hospital is a longtime recipient of support from Local 2029.
Funds for Maria Fareri were raised last December during Local 2029’s annual boot drive on Purchase Street. The other funds were raised during the union’s first Cinco de Mayo fundraiser. Held at the Shenorock Shore Club on May 5th the event raised funds through ticket sales, a 50/50 raffle and an auction. The event was organized by Local 2029’s fundraising committee of John Cotter, Cea Fong, Sal Inguanti, Michael Stoddart, Andrew Wood and Danny Archino. Rye Professional Firefighters Local 2029 President Ricky Colasacco said they hope turn the Cinco de Mayo event into an annual fundraiser.
