On Tuesday morning at Rye City Hall, the Department of Public Safety (police and fire) held a joint promotion ceremony for three of its members. Public Safety Commissioner Michael Kopy presided over the ceremony that elevated:

  • Max Billington of the Rye FD was promoted to the rank of Fire Lieutenant. Please read our prior reporting on Billington’s promotion and why he is now the fifth Lieutenant in the department.
  • Michael Anderson of the Rye PD was promoted to Police Sergeant. Anderson joined the department in January 2001, serving in Patrol Division. In early 2014, he was moved to Marine Unit Supervisor, where he revitalized the Marine Unit prior to being promoted to Detective in March of 2018. He now rejoins the Patrol Division with this promotion.
  • Chris Salguero of the Rye PD was promoted to Detective. Salguero transferred to the City of Rye police department in 2016. During the past seven years, Salguero has become a Field Training Officer and a DWI instructor.
