26-Year-Old Arrested for Driving with Stolen License Plates
(Updated. We previously said there was a stolen vehicle. That was incorrect. There were stolen license plates. We regret the error.)
A 26-year-old woman from Port Chester was arrested by Rye PD on Friday for driving with stolen license plates.
At approximately 10:00am Friday, a Rye PD officer stopped a 2010 Honda CRV on Peck Ave in the area of the Boston Post Road after a patrol car’s license plate reader alerted that the plates on the passing Honda CRV had been reported stolen.
The vehicle displayed two license plates both reported stolen to the NYPD on Monday,, September 11th. The driver of the vehicle, 26-year-old Ligia Durasno-Escandon, of Port Chester, was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property. She was also issued a summons for driving a motor vehicle with no insurance, unlicensed operation, unregistered motor vehicle, and improper plates.
Durasno-Escandon is due back in Rye City Court on October 3, 2023. Rye PD reminds you that booking charges are merely accusations and the defendant(s) are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
