Rye Girls Varsity Soccer was gored by the Somers Tuskers at home Tuesday evening, falling 2 – 3 in their first outing for the season.

“Rye played a tough Somers team who was ranked number two in all of Section 1 teams,” said Rye Girls Varsity Soccer Coach Rich Savage. “Somers came out early scoring off a corner kick on a goal from Tianna Righetti in the first three minutes of the game. Rye bounced back 12 minutes later with Claire Nemsick scoring off a direct kick from 30 yards out.”

Somers would take the lead with a goal from Julia Arbeleaz. Rye’s senior Isabel Harvey would tie the game with 1 minute thirty seconds in the first half in a perfect cross from Maddy Walsh.

Somers Julia Arbeleaz would score her second game winning goal of the night with 20 minutes left in the game match. Although Rye nearly scored three different times, they couldn’t find the equalizer.

Watch the replay. Rye will travel to Eastchester on Friday afternoon for their first league match if the season at 4:15pm.
