Rye Girls Varsity Soccer waded across John Jay Cross River on Tuesday on its way to the semi-finals. The Garnets took the win at home 3 – 0.

“From the start of the first whistle, Rye was able to control the pace of play,” said Rye Girls Varsity Soccer Coach Rich Savage. “The team was passing the ball nicely to open up the field. The defense with Claire Nemsick, Alli Koford, Sage Ruttenberg and Della Goodman was steadfast, keeping John Jay’s scoring opportunities to a minimum.”

Reese Lejuez would open up the scoring for Rye 20 minutes into the first half with a beautiful shot from 30 yards out that would hit off the post and go in. Just 8 minutes later Lyla Keenan would make an overlapping run off a corner kick, receiving a pass from Maddy Walsh and drilled a shot that pinged off the post and went in for Rye’s second goal.

Charlotte Keenan would provide Rye’s third goal to give the Garnets a comfortable lead.
Rye went on to host Tappan Zee Thursday night at 5:30 pm for the semi-final match.

The team is now 16 – 2. Watch the replay.
