Meet Your Council & County Candidates: Interviews & More
Election day is Tuesday, November 7th and MyRye.com wants you to meet the candidates for City Council and County Legislator. Learn about each of them, their views on serious (flooding) and not so serious (Ruffles Original, Lay’s Barbeque or Funyuns?) questions. Early voting starts next Saturday, October 28th and there are 24 different locations for early votes including ones in Mamaroneck and Rye Brook.
Rye City Council
With incumbent Council member Lori Fontanes on the ballot but no longer actively campaigning due to a pending move to Paris, there are three candidates actively running for three spots:
The three seats opening are currently held by Carolina Johnson (not running for reelection, but there is a simmering write-in campaign), Lori Fontanes (see above) and Josh Nathan (incumbent, running for reelection). You will see four candidates on the ballot – Fontanes (no longer campaigning), Nathan, Cunningham (challenger) and Jamie Jensen (challenger).
Read our MyRye.com interviews with each of these candidates:
- Q&A: Council Candidate Keith Cunningham
- Q&A: Council Candidate Josh Nathan
- Q&A: Council Candidate Jamie Jensen
- Q&A: Council (But Not Not A) Candidate Lori Fontanes
Cunningham, Jensen and Nathan also appeared at a local League of Women Voters candidate forum on October 16th at The Osborn. With each of the three virtually guaranteed to win a council seat, the forum was unusually friendly. Watch the video (note there is a recording error at the 45 minute mark. The video is then out or order but the entire event is available).
Westchester County Legislator, District 7
Incumbent Catherine Parker is running for reelection. She is being challenged by Katie Manger. District 7 covers Mamaroneck, Rye, Larchmont, part of New Rochelle, part of Harrison.
The two have not appeared together in a debate during the election cycle.
