Gas blowers are now prohibited until springtime.

The City of Rye updated its code at the beginning of 2023 – the law only allows gas leaf blowers during the Fall (October 1 to December 15) and Spring (March 1 to April 30) cleanup seasons. Fines range up to $250 for the first offense, $350 for the second offense and $1,500 for the third offense. The gas leaf blower operator, the person(s) employing the operator and the homeowner (or renter) can all be fined.

Use of all motorized landscaping equipment, including lawn mowers, leaf blowers and other outdoor machine-powered equipment, is permitted only between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on weekdays and 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on weekends. And no operation is permitted on holidays, Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur.
