45 Year Old Arrested for Stolen Plate
A 45 year old man was arrested by Rye PD on Friday for a stolen license plate.
At approximately 12:37pm Friday, the Westchester County Real Time Crime Center notified Rye PD of a vehicle traveling northbound on the Boston Post Road in the area of High Street with a stolen license plate. One of the largest license plate reader systems in the country, RTC scans & archives approximately 40 million plates a month across 220 MOBOTIX cameras aimed at Westchester County highways.
Rye officers observed and initiated a traffic stop on a 2016 Ford Escape traveling on Interstate 95 southbound displaying the reported stolen Maryland license plate. The driver identified as 45 year old Sergio Santana of the Bronx, New York, was arrested and charged with one count of possession of stolen property.
Santana is due back in Rye City Court on January 23, 2024. Rye PD reminds you that booking charges are merely accusations and the defendant(s) are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
