Rye PD arrested a 40 year old man on Midland Avenue on Wednesday for marihuana possession, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and having a suspended registration.
At 10:00am this past Wednesday, December 27, a Rye PD Officer was on patrol and pulled over a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee for a vehicle and traffic infraction on Midland Avenue in the area of Cottage Street. Johao Velez, age 40 of Port Chester, was identified as the driver. Upon further investigation, Velez was found to be in possession of just over 21 ounces of marihuana inside the vehicle.
Velez was charged with Criminal Possession of Cannabis 3rd Degree, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and having a suspended registration all Misdemeanors. Velez was released on his own recognizance and is due back in Rye City Court on January 16, 2024.
