Local Rye non profit Soul Ryeders hosted its annual Giving Circle “Get Together to Give Together” event to honor its founding board members for their unwavering dedication and service in the formative years of the organization. The group is dedicated to providing support and resources to those affected by cancer.
“Tonight, we come together not only to celebrate the remarkable achievements of SOUL RYEDERS, but also to express our heartfelt appreciation to those visionary individuals whose passion and commitment laid the foundation for our organization’s success,” said Heidi Kitlas, executive director of Soul Ryeders at the February 1st event. “Their tireless efforts and selfless dedication have enabled us to touch the lives of countless individuals and families affected by cancer, offering hope, support, and a sense of community during some of life’s most challenging moments.”
Brian Smith, the current Chairman of the Board, shared a recent resolution to form a Founders Advisory Council. He officially announced the formation of the council to include founding board members who had served a minimum of one term on the board and contributed to the success of the organization. Enthusiastically, Smith declared that Laura DeVita, Mark Doran, Dawn Ewing, Pati Holmes, Bill Miller, Sandy Samberg, Emily Sharko and Kerri Winderman agreed to join the council to provide their expertise and strategic advice as an ongoing commitment to Soul Ryeders.
Guests were invited to join the Giving Circle, an opportunity to pledge a minimum of $1,000 a year over 3-years, and become a part of a larger collective effort to provide long term growth for the organization.
“Soul Ryeders is not going to cure cancer, it’s not going to make it go away. But what it is going to do is change the way people live with cancer.,” said Bill Miller, former chairman and founding board member.
