Another incentive was presented last week from the Let the Kids Play group that has offered to underwrite the cost (up to $3 million) of artificial turf installation at Rye Recreation’s Nursery Field site.

“The need is not going to go away, the need is there,” said Let the Kids Play board member and Overlook Place resident Matt Pymm at the open mic portion of Rye City Council last Wednesday, February 25th. ‘[Rye City Council] was asking originally, if we could come up with the money to advance the study from where it’s been paused to the next level. I think it was $100,000. Whatever that number comes in at – whether it’s 75-85-90 – we’ve agreed as a group to pay for it in advance. That’s a new piece of information to have some skin in the game.”

The referenced $100K was previously only available once the project was fully approved.

This Wednesday evening (March 6th) at Rye City Council there will be a presentation – an overview – of the Nursery Field project by city staff. It is unclear what else if anything will happen on Wednesday beyond the staff presentation except that there will not be any public comment. The agenda says “5. Nursery Field Presentation. (No public comments will be accepted)”.

None of the presentation materials have been incorporated into the agenda materials as of Tuesday evening.
