Boys Varsity Tennis Takes Fish from the Pelicans
The Rye Boys Varsity Tennis team took fish from the Pelham Pelicans on Monday, beating the birds 7 – 0 at Pelham Country Club.
“There were great points in all the matches as Rye swept the Pelham Pelicans 7-0 Monday,” said Rye Boys Varsity Tennis Coach Sue Dickson. “Pelham is a crossover match for the V1 team and a regular match for the V2 team. Today, Timothy Morrell and Marcos Becker had their debut on the V1 team winning their fourth doubles point with ease, 6-1, 6-1. All matches came away with a win in two sets, despite not having played for four days because of the rainy weather.”
Number one singles player, sophomore Henry Groves, only gave up two games. Second doubles, freshmen Filip Gitterstam and Lou Kim-Reuter, also only gave up two games at second doubles. Sophomore Luke Gordon won his first 2024 singles match also holding strong only giving up two games. Fourth doubles, freshman Marcos Becker and eighth grade player Timothy Morell, also gave up only two games.
The Garnets are 2-1 for the season. Currently the team is without a ranking in the league. Next up the Garnets travel to face Edgemont for a 4:30pm match this Thursday.
