Rye Arts Center Fundraiser is Saturday, May 4th @ The Cap
The Rye Arts Center (RAC) will host its annual fundraiser at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester on Saturday, May 4th, at 7:00 pm. The venue will be transformed into RAC Studio 51, a version of the iconic 70’s nightclub, and an homage to the RAC’s historic building at 51 Milton Road.
The RAC will be honoring five individuals who have made an indelible impact on the community: Kate & Paul Conn, Aida & Julian Koski, and the recipient of The RAC’s first-ever “Visionary Artist Award”, Meera Agarwal. The “Visionary Artist Award” will be given annually to an artist whose work has impacted the community, has been a notable source of inspiration to others, and is a catalyst for keeping the local art scene vibrant.
Agarwal
Agarwal is a self-taught local artist and art instructor. She creates oil, acrylic, and mixed media works that can be seen throughout Westchester and Fairfield counties. With an eye for figurative and abstract forms, her colorful award-winning paintings draw inspiration from nature’s marvels, diverse locales, and human stories. Agarwal’s art is regularly featured in exhibits across the tri-state area, and she is a certified Art-o-Mat artist, contributing to art vending machines nationwide. She has expanded into public art with Rye Arts Center’s Rye’sAbove butterfly installation and contributed to the Rye Poetry Path.
The Fundraising Party
The party features local artists, including a live pop-art creation by Lynn Mara, live portraits by David Abrevaya, culinary creations by OnTheMarc, top-shelf hand-crafted cocktails, wine, and beer, a vibrant disco floor to bring out your Saturday Night Fever, and a bespoke Jazz Lounge on the mezzanine for those seeking a “chill vibe.”
