Food Drive @ Rye Y Week of May 13th
The Rye YMCA will hold its first multi-agency food drive next week from Monday, May 13th through Saturday, May 18th. The group will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of its Togetherhood community service program with a food drive for four local pantries: Bread of Life, Carver Market, Harrison Food Pantry, and the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force.
There will be drop-off bins in the enterways at the Rye Y and the Y Studios. Accepted donations include new, unopened, non-perishable food items. You can also order your donations from an Amazon wish list and have them sent directly to the Y.
The requested food items:
- Pasta And Sauce
- Macaroni And Cheese
- Peanut Butter
- Soup (Especially Low Salt)
- Low Sugar Cereal
- Canned Fruits And Vegetables
- White Or Brown Rice
- Beans
- Canned Tuna
- Shelf Stable Milk
- Assorted Spices
- Vegetable/Canola Oil
Past drives at the Rye Y have included:
- Collecting food for Bread of Life food pantry in Rye – July 2015, July 2016, July 2018, July 2019, July 2020, ongoing from October 2020-August 2021 and July 2022, August 2023
• Pack a Van food drive for Harrison Food Pantry – May 2021, June 2022
• Stuff a Bus snack drive for Carver Market – June 2021. (plus several Togetherhood projects with volunteers stocking and organizing shelves at Carver Market, preparing food, and distributing groceries.)
• Pack a Van drive for oral hygiene products for Larchmont-Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force – July 2021, October 2022
