Golfer Myla Bisceglia Qualifies for State Tournament
Myla Bisceglia’s redemption tour will continue in 2024, as the junior on the Rye Girls’ Varsity Golf team has officially qualified for the New York State golf tournament in June of this year.
Bisceglia represented the Garnets at Whippoorwill Country Club in Armonk, New York Tuesday and Wednesday, shooting a spectacular 158, nearly 20 strokes better than the cut line. The top nine finishers from the field earned the right to compete in Albany from June 1-3, and Bisceglia clinched fourth place overall in Section 1 with her score, comfortably earning qualification.
Bisceglia missed the tournament team cut by just two placements last year, finishing in 11th. This improvement is a testament to her hard work throughout the past year, according to head coach Rich Savage. “This is an outstanding accomplishment and well deserved honor,” he told MyRye.com when speaking about his talented golfer and shoe-in for second consecutive team MVP award. “That close finish [in 2023] inspired Myla to put the work in to accomplish her goal!”
