In Memory: Laura Sandoval, Age 78
Laura Sandoval was born In Miami, Florida on August 2, 1945, to Bertram and Ruth Bodden. She moved to Rye as a young child with her sister and attended Milton Elementary School. Laura attended Mamaroneck High School and then attended beauty school in New York City.
While attending beauty school she would volunteer at the Paul Anka fan club next door to the school and won a date with Paul Anka.
Laura had an adventurous spirit, having moved across the country to California then back again to New York. Laura married and moved to Jacksonville, NC and had two children. Having divorced, she packed up the kids in the car and drove back to California.
Laura was a brave, strong, dedicated single mother to her children and did everything to provide a good life for herself and her kids.
Laura eventually decided it was time to move back to her childhood home of New York. So she loaded up the Rambler with two kids, a dog and a cat and whatever belongings she could and headed back home.
Later in life, Laura became a grandparent and took pride in taking care of her grandson. Laura had a witty and dry sense of humor and loved to laugh.
Laura is preceded in death by her parents Bertram Bodden and Ruth Avery as well as her sister Gilda Cento and brother Scott Avery.
She is survived by her son David Sandoval, daughter Michelle O’Connor, grandson Seamus O’Connor, brother and sister-In-law Edward and Nancy Avery and nieces Kristen and Bonnie Avery, Michelle Cento, and nephew Patrick Cento.
A memorial service will be held in early August 2024.
