The Rye Girls Varsity Lacrosse team fell in the NYSPHSAA Finals on Saturday, 9-5. The Sayville Golden Flashes claimed the title with a perfect 21-0, defeating the Garnets thanks in large part to a 5-0 run in the second quarter.

Rye generated goals from Mary Sack (2x), Lilly Whaling, Beau Whaling, and Mary Ebeling. Karenna Chader and Katherine Ebeling split time in goal as they have all season.

This marks the end of the 2024 season for the Garnets, who made it all the way to the State Finals. It was an incredible run for Michelle Mason’s club, which featured six graduating seniors:

#4 Goalie Karenna Chader
#6 Midfielder Mali White (Captain)
#7 Defender Paige Vanneck
#9 Attack Della Goodman (Captain)
#20 Defender Meredith Kenny
#22 Attack Lilly Whaling (Captain)
