19 Year Old Driver Goes off Purchase Street onto Sidewalk, Arrested for DWI
Rye PD made a DWI arrest after a 19 year old driver went off Purchase Street, onto the sidewalk and into the bushes. On Friday, July 19, 2024, at approximately 6:25pm, Rye Police Officers responded to the area of Purchase Street and Blind Brook Lane for a motor vehicle accident. Local businesses in that area include Reveal Hair Studio, Pet Pantry and Skin Westchester.
Police subsequently arrested Denys Ramon Rivera, age 19 of Port Chester, for driving while intoxicated. An investigation determined Rivera was operating a 2023 Toyota Corolla on Purchase Street and drove off the roadway, onto the sidewalk into the bushes in front of 265 Purchase Street.
Officers administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests which Rivera failed. He was arrested and transported to Rye PD headquarters where he provided a breath sample of .25% BAC. He was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the City of Rye Court on July 30, 2024 at 9:30am.
