Rye FD Union Presents $14.5K to Local Non-Profits
Three local non-profits accepted $14,500 of donations from the Rye Professional Firefighters Local 2029 union on Thursday, July 25th. Wainwright House received $2,500, Rye Recreation received $5,000, and the Rye Free Reading Room received $7,000.
Local 2029 chose the three recipients through grant applications. The executive board of Rye Professional Firefighters Inc., now a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit, reviewed and approved the applications. Wainwright House will put the donation towards the renovation of Fonrose House, a cottage on the Wainwright property used for programming and events. The donation to Rye Recreation will support a summer camp tuition scholarship fund.
Local 2029 raised over $60,000 in funds at its annual Cinco de Mayo event back on May 4th. Next year, the union’s fundraising event will be held around St. Patrick’s Day.
