48 Year Old Dies in Apparent Suicide on Metro-North Tracks in Rye (Updated)
Note: The MTA Police has updated the age of the deceased. It was originally reported the deceased was 26 years old. New information indicates he had just turned 48 years old – it was his birthday on Saturday.
A 48 year old has died in an apparent suicide on the Metro North train tracks at the Rye train station.
According to a Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) spokesperson, the fatal incident took place at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 28th, 2024 and involved a Grand Central-bound express train. The train was taken out of service for a police investigation and its passengers were able to continue their travels within 20 minutes by transferring to a local train.
The MTA Police released the name of the decreased as Francisco Amezquita-Nunez, a 48 year old male from Port Chester.
