The Girls Varsity Tennis team finished off a difficult week of games with a 5-2 win against county rival Pelham on Friday night, winning their fourth straight match in as many days. The schedule was not kind to the Garnets, but they persevered brilliantly and managed to sweep the week.

Sophomores Ella Poole and Paloma Pepper won in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 to secure the fourth and clinching match for the team on Friday. Poole controlled the points from the back, opening up the court for Pepper’s winning volleys at the net.

Junior Lana Andykian was first off court with a quick 6-2, 6-0 singles victory to kicstart the action for the Garnets, who knocked off Harrison on Tuesday, Mamaroneck on Wednesday, John Jay-Cross River on Thursday, and then Pelham on Friday to account for their four game ‘W’ streak.

With the win, the Garnets move to 6-3 on the year and firmly place themselves among the strongest teams in the area. They will seek to make it five in a row when they travel to Iona Prep to take on the Eastchester Eagles on Monday, September 23. The match is set to begin at 4:30pm.
