Poole, Garnets Tennis Takes Down Ursuline in Return to Action
Rye Varsity Tennis returned to action on Friday evening with a bang, outplaying Ursuline to the tune of a 6-1 final score. Key contributors for the Garnets include sophomore Ella Poole, sophomore Alex DiMeo, and senior Sasha Sherman. Those three players combined for three dominant wins in the singles format.
“Ella Poole played her first Varsity match at singles and dominated, jumping out to a quick 7-0 lead before closing out the pro set format 8-2,” Head Coach Anthony Campbell told MyRye.com in his postgame report. “Ella played with pace and consistency, moving her opponent around the court.”
Rye (7-3) gets the rest of September off before their next match on Tuesday, October 1. They play host to Horace Greeley at Rye Recreation in a 4:30pm start time slot as they search for their eighth win of the 2024 season.
