Rye Varsity Volleyball kicked off their early week back-to-back with a strong victory over the Pelham Pelicans on Monday, September 30, pulling away in sets one and three and winning a close battle in set two for the 3-0 sweep. The Garnets, fresh off their second-place finish at the Waler Panas Tournament over the weekend, returned to league play with a solid team effort. The final score turned out to be 25-10, 25-21, 25-10.

Setter Ashley Dehmer had 22 assists to lead the team once again, but also came through with a season-high 5 kills. Dehmer, already a Rye Athlete of the Week in 2024, earned another piece of recognition when she was named to the All Tournament Team from the weekend Panas tournament. Junior Emma Lunstead also made the All Tournament Team as the second of two Garnet representatives.

Phoebe Greto had 8 kills to pace Rye in their Monday victory, followed closely by Erin Ball (7). Ball showed her versatility on the court with 5 aces and 2 digs as well. Anna Nolasco chipped in 6 kills and 2 digs, while Valeria Medina had 5 kills and 3 digs. The Garnets showed great depth throughout their lineup in the convincing win.

Rye (7-4) gets little time to relax, as they are back in action on Tuesday, October 1, at Mamaroneck. First serve is scheduled for 4:30 against the Tigers. Watch the game here. Review their win against Pelham here.
