Rye Lions Holding Community Mocktail Party Thursday
The Rye Lions Club will hold first community mocktail party for those interested in becoming members this coming Thursday, October 24th, 2024 from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm at the Wainwright House. The event is open to the community and there is no charge.
“The Rye Lions Club mission is to improve the well-being in our neighborhoods,” said Nancy Pasquale, executive director of RyeAct and Rye Lions Club co-chair of membership. “We know that our children are struggling with stress. When we show them that as adults we can de-stress without having to resort to alcohol; that we can have fun.”
The event is being sponsored by CSA Recruits, a college sports agency co-owned by Rye Lion member Steve Miller, and by Athletic Brewing Co., a non-alcoholic beer brand whose national account manager is Rye Board of Education member Matt Schibanoff.
CSA owner and Rye Lion member Steve Miller said “Years ago, as a high school athlete my introduction to the Rye Lions Club was at the Athlete of the Year event and through my dad. I really didn’t know all the many ways the Rye Lions Club has helped so many in Rye through their philanthropy. Now I’m the Rye dad and I see it’s not a heavy lift to be a Lion and continue the good work.”
The event will also feature reps from Westchester’s first professional men’s soccer team, the Westchester Soccer Club (WSC). The club will launch a a USL League One men’s team in the 2025 season and attendees will have a chance of winning tickets to the game. Rye resident Mitchell Baruchowitz, managing partner of Merida Capital Holdings, is also majority owner of the club. Another Rye resident, Sara Whalen Hess, a soccer Olympic medalist and World Cup champion, serves on the WSC board and will be at the event.
